Academics. CLC curriculum has two components. The first component includes content area courses in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Language. The second component is to expand beyond the IEP goals and to address the transition plan of everyday living, life skills, employment, and post secondary placement.

Art Program. CLC offers a unique multi-faceted Studio Art program. Students will have the opportunity to learn acrylic canvas painting, creative clay hand building, soapstone carving, airbrushing (for older grades), and have fun with the many seasonal arts and crafts. Advanced students are provided with extra classes to work on projects and receive additional instruction. Also, CLC participates in the annual Monmouth County Teen Art’s Festival, giving students the opportunity to show their artwork at Brookdale Community College. CLC’s Art program focuses on individual student skills, providing a therapeutic, rewarding and fun experience!

Computer Lab. Our Computer Lab has 12 individual workstations; featuring a projector which allows the teacher to demonstrate studies during the lesson. Students use a Windows based operating system to explore the Internet and utilize software programs such as Microsoft Office to learn the capabilities of technology.

Culinary Arts. Students will perfect their skills in our fully equipped commercial kitchen where they will be part of a student team that creates gourmet meals and caters breakfast and lunch. In addition to mastering cooking and baking methods, students will learn menu planning and the basic principles of food service management.

The Field Trip Program. Howell Campus reinforces classroom instruction by synchronizing student field trips and activities that reflect upon their academic studies. Behavior Modification field trips are held quarterly for students who have reached high academic and behavior standing. PDF For Curriculum
